The Art of Pattern Mixing

Hi Mermaids,

It is Kristi (the face behind Nobella Grace).  I thought we would dish on pattern mixing in this post.  We happen to love this trend, and we know it can be daunting to think about.

We love to see a basic pattern (think black and white stripes) mixed with a louder print (floral or leopard for example) The simple pattern of the black and white does not try to over power or compete with a bright floral print as competing patterns is a bit harder to pull off.

If you are trying two louder prints make sure that they have a neutral base (such as white or black) and both in the same color scheme.  When you have two loud prints and different bright colors that makes it more difficult to pull it off.  We love this picture below as there is a white base in at least one of the pieces and a similar color scheme through out.

Lastly, here is a great look we can not wait to try for Fall.  So make sure to keep all your cute NBG striped pieces from Spring and Summer in your closet for Fall as we have a ton of plaid shirts coming in that will make for gorgeous pattern mixing.

  1. I love the floral and stripes in the first image but I think you would need a ton of confidence to pull off the others with the really bold patterns in the second image. I do like it though.
