Knot Again.... Our Favorite Way to Style the Maxi Dress ((Repost))

Hi Mermaids,

It is Kristi, the face behind the computer screen here at Nobella Grace.  I had shared with you last Spring and Summer one of my favorite ways to wear a maxi dress.  I am 5'5 and feel like I am at such an awkward height sometimes for Maxi Dresses.  My sister at 5'9 feels exactly the same way so it is perfect timing to bring out the gorgeous side knot.  This works for tall girls, short girls, medium girls, just about everyone and what I love is that it shows off your super cute shoes.

Here are a few of our favorite ways to rock the knot:

Our Darra Maxi Dress tied in a high side knot

We love this look (found via Pinterest).  It is tied on the front side and looks gorgeous for a casual beachy look.

This look is my absolute favorite and I have yet to try it out (thank you Pinterest once again).  We love how it is tied in the middle of the maxi dress, it lends to a more glamorous look.

Which is your favorite way to rock the Knot?  If you haven't tried it yet which look are you excited to add to your Summer Style?

Spring Fever

Hello Mermaids!

We have Spring Fever all ready, we are totally blaming it on the fact that temperatures are so much warmer this year.  Since it most likely isn't snowing in your neck of the woods we decided to give you a sneak peek of our Spring line.  Make sure to read all the way to the bottom because in true Mermaid fashion there is a surprise at the end.

First off, we adore the color(s) that Pantone has chosen for Color of the year.  Rose Quartz and Serenity are just what the New Year is longing for.  We have gorgeous tie dye tunics in Rose Quartz for Spring that we can not wait to share with you.

Our obsession with stripes is not going anywhere soon.  We love the peak a boo shoulder with this top, you can easily style it with jeans and booties or even a basic maxi skirt and sandals.

Embroidered details are another huge trend that continue into Spring.  We love this denim dress and the details.  Style this with booties, wedges or sandals for a gorgeous look.

Floral is another trend that pops up for Spring.  We love the deep rich colors of this gorgeous dress for a Spring Transition piece.

Share with us your favorite Spring Trend that you are looking forward to in the comments below.  Two lucky ladies will each receive a $25 store credit to Nobella Grace Boutique.  Winner will be announced back here on Wednesday.

{Reveal} Wild Unknown Tarot Reading

This week I decided to use my favorite tarot deck The Wild Unknown; written and illustrated by Kim Krans to give you your weekly message! Be sure to leave me a comment and let me know if your card resonated with you!

Card #1 Three of Wands
Envisioning the Future

The three of wands indicates you've had continued support from others (perhaps from your parents or two good friends). With their help you've formed a sense of self, of your values and morals. But now it's time to rely on yourself for guidance. Clarify your goals, cast others' needs and opinions aside. The future is infinite and it is yours. No one else can see through its layers of light and shadow.

Card #2 The Moon
Vivid Dreams and Fears

In many ways the moon card encompasses the idea of the wild unknown. It is the shadow realm, the place where dreams, fears, and mystery are born. Much darkness can linger here, and if you're not careful this can lead to periods of anxiety and self doubt...almost as though you've lost your way in a house of mirrors. Many great artists have roamed this inner landscape. It's where imagination and creativity drift freely upon the midnight air.

Card #3 The Magician
Self-Empowerment, Action

The magician is a card of boundless, expansive energy. Whereas many of the major arcana deal with stillness or aspects of the mind...this card is all about action, action, action. It's time to see yourself as the wildcat - embrace his speed, grace, and abilities. Do not be afraid to begin. You have the power of all four elements within your reach, now is the time to use them.

So I hope you enjoyed your weekly reading and be sure to join me back here on the NBG blog on Monday's for your weekly spread!

Holiday Style

It's the most wonderful time of the year! We love the holiday season and with Christmas and New Years right around the corner finding the perfect outfit for those holiday parties you'll be invited to is something most have already started thinking about.

Our daily style over at TRL is mostly casual and bohemian so when choosing our holiday look we tend to have to think a little outside of our comfort zones. What we love about this is it allows us to let our creativity flow when choosing the perfect holiday ensemble.

One thing we look for to jazz up our style for the holidays is a little sparkle. Sequins pants are all the rage right now and paired with a more simple neutral top you are sure to make a statement, you can also do the opposite and find a sparkly shirt paired with dark denim jeans. If those ideas are a little too much sparkle for your style try finding a statement necklace that will stand out in a crowd. Lastly, you can never go wrong with a little black dress. A LBD is timeless and looks so stunning this time of year with a pair of silver, gold, or sequin shoes.

We hope these holiday style tips will help you out this season and remember to get creative, have fun with it, and always stay true to YOUR style.

Happy Holidays!

Xx,

{Reveal} The Faeries' Oracle

Happy Monday mermaids! This week I have decided to use one of my newest oracle card decks, The Faeries' Oracle by Brian Froud and Jessica Macbeth to deliver your weekly motivational messages. Be sure to leave me a comment below with your feedback and if your message resonated with you! I'd love to hear it! <3

What is "faery"? "Faery" is an old term that embraces all the elves and gnomes and fairies and other folk, small and large, of the otherworld. It includes the angels whose wings spread across the cosmos, and the wee things that go bump in the night while they scrub your kitchen, tie your shoes neatly to each other, and knot elf locks in your hair as you sleep.

The word faery also means the place - Faery, the land of all the faeries, also known as the otherworld. Faery is alongside our everyday world, almost but not quite in synchronization with us, overlapping in some ways, different in others, and operating on a different level of energy.

Using the Faeries' Oracle is not like reading with any other card deck, whether tarot or oracle. In other decks we are working with archetypes and intellectual concepts. In The Faeries' Oracle we are, of course, still concerned with those. However, we are also interacting with the living, breathing faery beings. They are just as real as we are, if not more so, but they are very different from us. These differences and the faeries' inimitable approach to life will provide us with some interesting joys, challenges, and experiences as we become acquainted with and use this deck.

Card #1 Nelys the Alchemyst
Inner Transformation. Irrevocable Change.

When Nelys turns up in your reading. get ready for things to happen, inwardly and outwardly. The stuck becomes unstuck, the blocked begins to move. You may have to run to keep up with the speed at which the situation around you is moving. You may also be surprised by the direction things (and you) are taking. You may find your plans, even your desires and dreams, changing as the transformative process takes place. It might not have been in your plans, but later on you will look back and say, "Wow! It wasn't what I expected, but it was just what I needed."

When we have been through such an alchemical process, we can never go back to what we were before - which is probably just as well.

Card #2 The Singer of Transfiguration
Transformation. Transcendence. Metamorphosis.

Jackpot! This card in a reading signifies the joy of success after a time of struggle. A new way of life has been accepted and is being integrated. A sense of inner peace is growing. The struggle has all been worth it. This is a time of consolidation and joy, and is both a reward for past achievements and a time of preparation for the next climb up the path.

Card #3 Gloominous Doom
Self-defeat. Self-Pity. Self-destruction. Taking care of ourselves.

It is time to face the fact that our attitudes and beliefs about ourselves are our own. We may have learned them from others, but the others are not responsible for them in the here and now. We are. If we choose self-pity and pessimism, we make a choice that makes our lives worse. When this card appears in a reading, it indicates that this is a time when understanding that concept is especially important - a time when there is some sort of a crunch in the situation that offers someone the opportunity to notice and change such self-destructive habits. If it is yourself, you know what you need to do. If it is someone else, you may wish to consider how you might support them in this opportunity for change. Can you make sure to give positive feedback at every appropriate opportunity? Can you refrain from nagging, scolding, or complaining at them when they get it wrong? These things help.

I hope you enjoyed this interactive reading! Be sure to meet me back here on the Nobella Grace Blog every Monday so I can help get your week set off in the right direction with each card picked with YOU in mind! :)

Girl-Bossy Reads

Happy Friday, loves!

Can you believe we’re basically already in mid-November?! I keep asking myself where the time is going?! I’m currently in grad school and it truly seems like this semester has flown by, and that’s both a good and bad thing, so much cramming left to do, eeeeek!

As we dive into the holiday season I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite “girl bossy” reads with y’all! I recently launched my own person fashion and lifestyle blog and have really enjoyed reading books that are all focused on empowering women and gaining inspiration and know-how from these tales, and also a few of my fave “self-help” books on dating, because A) I have to humor myself somehow and B) what the h*** does a girl have to do to get a dude to talk to her?! Anyone else in this same boat, please say I! But really though...it's  a w f u l.

Okay, so here we go! (I stole these descriptions from Amazon, whoopsie! Just felt like those descriptions might be a little more powerful than mine! ;) )

Girl Boss by Sophia Amoruso: Sophia Amoruso is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Nasty Gal. A creative visionary and entrepreneur who was recently named by Forbes as “Fashion’s new phenom,” she has become one of the most prominent figures in retail and a cultural icon. She recently founded the #GIRLBOSS Foundation, which awards financial grants to women in the worlds of design, fashion, music, and the arts, to help fund them on their way to becoming GIRLBOSS’s themselves. #GIRLBOSS, a New York Times bestseller published in fifteen countries around the world, is Sophia’s first book.

Girl Code by Cara Alwill Leyba: Cara Alwill Leyba is an Author and Master Life Coach from New York City who encourages women to create a "Champagne Life" that entails living effervescently, celebrating themselves every day, and making their happiness a priority. She runs an international boutique coaching practice where she works with burnt-out, bored women who know they are meant for more. Through loving guidance, support and an expert perspective, Cara empowers women to challenge their fears and create a lifestyle and career that feels authentic, vibrant, and inspiring.

He’s Just Not That Into You by Greg Behrendt: It’s a classic single-woman scenario: you really like this guy, but he’s giving mixed messages. You make excuses, decide he’s confused, afraid of commitment. Behrendt, a former executive story editor for Sex and the City—and a formerly single (now happily married) guy who knows all the excuses—provides a simple answer: he’s just not that into you. Stop kidding yourself, let go and look for someone else who will be. After all, as Behrendt sensibly puts it, "if a (sane) guy really likes you, there ain’t nothing that’s going to get in his way." If you’re not convinced yet, by all means read this smart, funny and surprisingly upbeat little book, full of q’s and a’s covering every excuse woman has ever made to avoid admitting to herself that a man just wasn’t that smitten with her.

It’s Just a F***ing Date by Greg Behrendt: "The book is jam-packed with straight-talking tips on how to bag your man, and quite frankly, we can't put it down." - The Sun Why does dating have to be so hard? It doesn't! Stop trying to out-game the system and relax. IT'S JUST A F***ING DATE presents the tools, not the rules, for bringing back the art of the date. The ordeals of 21st century dating, from online dating and hooking up to pulling the plug when it isn't working, will soon be easy to navigate. With tips to define what is and isn't a date, how to get asked out, and setting your own dating standards, dating won't seem old-fashioned, it will be fun. Bestselling authors Greg Behrendt and Amiira Ruotola return to the minefield of modern relationships with this revised and updated edition.

Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham: In an era where twenty-something women are told how to think, where to work, who to date, and what to wear, it’s refreshing that a voice has broken the mold to empower women to do one thing—be yourself, flaws and all. In Not That Kind of Girl, Lena Dunham takes readers on a voyage of self-discovery as she successfully navigates the often-perilous facets of womanhood, from dating and friendships to self-love and careers. Through her series of essays, Dunham shares what she’s learned on her path to self-awareness with a refreshing candor and raw honesty that emboldens readers. Her painfully-relatable stories of graduating from one-night stands with toxic men and dead-end jobs with no purpose, to loving relationships and a fulfilling career will leave you laughing, cringing, and sighing “me too.” Thoughtful, hilarious, and exquisitely-written, Dunham’s memoir is like reading your quirky big sister's diary. –Brittany Pirozzolo

Why Not Me? By Mindy Kaling: In Why Not Me? Mindy Kaling has solidified her position as “most valuable friend.” Just like Mindy, these essays are exuberantly funny, deeply introspective and refreshingly thoughtful. From her relationship with BJ Novak and the guy who worked for the president, to creating her TV show and announcing the Emmy nominations, Mindy’s just-between-us-friends approach makes you love her just a little bit more after each story, and you’ll even question if Mindy is your soup snake. By all conventional measures Mindy Kaling should not be where she is, and that is the beauty of the stories she shares—“Work hard, know your shit, show your shit, and then feel entitled.” Accessible and empowering, Why Not Me? makes you want to stand up and shout, “Why not me, too?”--Deborah Bass

If you’re in for a good read with a whole lot of inspo and girl power, I’d HIGHLY recommend cuddling up with any one of these reads as we all see our weather begin to change as the cold continues to approach. And! If you’re already on your gift-giving game, pick a couple of these up for the girl boss in your life as a fun holiday present!

Until next time, loves!
